Try the Name lab →A name earns its place by the shape of its history, not a tag: its best year before 1966 took at least 1 in 2,500 of that year's recorded US births, it later fell below a quarter of that peak, and it now stands at least twice its low point without having slipped over the last decade. The century-long yardstick is the US record (1880 on) — UK records begin in 1996 — so UK ranks are shown wherever the same names chart there. Each name's number is its national rank for its sex: #12 means the 12th most popular girls' or boys' name overall, not the 12th in this collection, which is why the figures skip as you scan. Data from the 2025 official birth records (US Social Security Administration; UK Office for National Statistics, England & Wales); the curve under each name traces its share of US births year by year since 1880, the century-long record: the dot marks its previous peak, the amber stretch the climb back since its low point.
