Still struggling to find the perfect name?
Rate a handful of names in the Name lab and it learns your taste, then suggests names you'd never have thought to search for.
Try the Name lab →Membership is mechanical: every name commoner than 1 in 100,000 babies in the selected country's 2025 records, most common first. Odds are among all babies born that year, boys and girls together, shown to two significant figures, and they set the order; ranks are within a sex (the #1 boy and the #1 girl are different names with different odds), which is why rank and order can disagree slightly. Unisex names carry one rank across both sexes, so there is no separate unisex ranking to be first in. The slider's thirds are real bands: Popular is commoner than 1 in 1,000, Uncommon runs to 1 in 10,000, Rare to 1 in 100,000. Rarer names than that exist (8,923 in the UK, 26,968 in the US) at a few babies a year each; they live in the A–Z, along with a handful of initials recorded as names. Each name's number is its national rank for its sex: #12 means the 12th most popular girls' or boys' name overall, not the 12th in this collection, which is why the figures skip as you scan. Data from the 2025 official birth records (US Social Security Administration; UK Office for National Statistics, England & Wales); each card's odds are among all babies born that year, boys and girls together, to two significant figures.
